Carlos Zorrinho

This is at least the ambition behind the contract that was signed this week at INESC Porto (at the Asprela campus). The signing ceremony welcomed the Secretary of State for Energy and Innovation, Carlos Zorrinho, and the aim with this contract is to support project REIVE – Smart Grids with Electric Vehicles, a project worth 2.6 million Euros.

The Fundo de Apoio à Inovação – FAI (Innovation Support Fund) will be bearing 50 percent of the costs with this project. This value includes the global costs of the R&D institutions involved in the project. The industrial partners (REN, EDP, EFACEC, Contar, Lógica and GALP) will support an added funding worth 500 thousand euros and supply labour.

Project REIVE also works as an interface between universities, companies and society as it promises to change the current mobility paradigm. Furthermore, REIVE will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and it is proof that it is possible to create the conditions for a mass use of electric vehicles in Portugal.
